- How long does installation take?
Most installations will take three- five days. However, some could take longer depending on the size of the project, type of system(s) installed and/or complexity of the project.
- Can I do it myself?
Adequate floor preparation is critical to ensuring an effective surface solution. Professional installation companies like PermaTek Coatings have the knowledge and equipment to ensure to proper testing and preparation is complete before we begin installation.
- How do you prepare the floor?
After testing, we will utilize a number of preparation methods depending upon the type of system being installed. Grinding and shot-blasting are the most common methods we will use.
- Can I put epoxy over a wood substrate?
Yes, as long as it is possible to minimize and/or eliminate floor flex, epoxy can be applied over a wood substrate. It is very important to ensure the substrate is rigid. It is also a great way to waterproof an upper level substrate.
- How much does it cost?
Prices can range from under $3 (per square foot) for a thin coating and up to $20 for small jobs, with the average job running between $7 - $12 per square foot. Keep in mind that the work has an economy of scale and the larger the project, the lower the cost per square foot. Also, the amount and style of coving (coming up the walls at the floor to wall junction) also are a factor in the pricing.
- How thick is it?
Our standard systems can range between 1/32 of an inch up to 3/8”. Our most common system installs in at approximately 3/16”.
- What colors do you have?
We offer standard pigmented colors, decorative flake and decorative quartz. The color options are endless and there are never extra charges for custom color!
- How far in advance are you scheduled?
Usually 2-3 weeks, but we do have multiple in house crews and can usually accommodate a tight schedule.
